Rock Star Kids
Science Rock Star Kids—I was approached to create a logo for an online learning platform. The marriage of rock aesthetic with science is from the woman who runs the platform; she is a university chemistry professor and guitarist in a punk rock band. I wanted these concepts to reflect in the logo so I combined the flask and guitar into a single mark.
Concepting
The typography came from a balance of the educational platform aspect mixed with the harsh rock and roll in the display type.
The colors had a single requirement—there needed to be a blue that matched YInMn Blue, which was a discovery by another professor in Oregon, the same state in which the client resided. The secondary color to complement the logo is a positively charged orange, which helps to speak to the youthful energy the platform was aiming to capture.
